The Flourish Kollection, LLC.
What services do you offer? for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
We currently offer regular and plus-size swimwear and accessories. At the Flourish Kollection, we strive to be more than just a fashion line. In addition to swimsuits and accessories, we also serve as a place to build confidence, self-esteem, and empowerment. Our website includes a section titled, “How we Flourished”, which features stories on how individuals have overcome obstacles and flourished!
What does it feel like to have your own business?
Whew!! Like I can’t believe I started it and it’s going well. I get to pour myself, my ideas, and my thoughts into something that belongs to me, and I don’t need approval from anyone! After so many years of battling with myself on becoming an entrepreneur, and finally following through, I’d have to say that it feels surreal and incredible. This is all ME.
What steps did you take to start your own business?
I started thinking about becoming a business owner when I lived in Atlanta in 2014. There were so many entrepreneurs who looked like me and were doing well, which gave me confidence, hope, and motivation. That faded because I felt like the time was not right, and I had bigger things to worry about. 2016 came around, and I decided to give it another shot. I created a name and email address. With this, I thought to myself; now you have to do it. Nope! By this time, I was back in Florida, and in my high-demanding career, and deep down inside I knew that I wasn't ready to put the work in because I was so consumed with work. Fast forward to 2018; I restarted my research on becoming a business owner. During this time I also started researching vendors and writing a blueprint. In 2019, I stopped making excuses and started putting more into my business. I began to purchase products, found the perfect graphic designer, my logo, created my website, LLC, and other things. There was no turning back.
What advice do you have for someone in their twenties trying to start a business like yours or in general?
Just START!! That is by far the BEST advice that I can give. Although I’m a researcher, and I like having everything in order, that is very time consuming and you will not know EVERYTHING. The best thing to do is to start and learn as you go. Another thing is to not compare your business to others, even if you’re doing the same thing. This is YOUR journey, YOUR gift, and YOUR story. Never lose sight of what you’re doing by comparing yourself to anyone. That’s not YOUR business babe!
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned during quarantine about yourself and your business?
I’ve learned that I really do enjoy being at home, lol. I mean I knew that but this was confirmation. I’ve learned that what is for you is just that. I know we hear it all the time, but if you’re focused on yourself and you’re doing things according to His plan, all you have to do is be obedient to His will and sit back and watch it all manifest. I’m super grateful. I’ve also learned that I need to post more content, be more consistent, and I need to make shopping as easy as possible for the consumers. I thought a website would help, but… Yeah! lol
What are you manifesting for the month of May?
I am manifesting better health, knocking my to-do list down (which I add to daily), the launch of a spring/summer line, over 100 orders within the next two months, and more submissions for the “How We Flourished” section.
