A Business that helps others start a Business
I'm going to share some things I learned starting a business in my 20's. As you can imagine there are millions of things that go wrong, Don't fret, survive this for the bigger picture. Owning your own business is something to take major pride in.
"You're doing that too?!" is all I used to hear. People will talk you out of greatness if you allow them. When I began my first beauty bar four years ago, I assure you this was not a common thing. I was only 23 years of age. Ignore the haters, you have this vision. Even if this vision has been seen a million times by a billion viewers, it hasn't been manifested through my eyes. My eyes have been places you haven't. My eyes will tell stories yours can't. My eyes have loved things you will never love. It's impossible for someone to have the same business as you. It may go over some heads and that's okay.
"Have a business plan!" Is what Everyone tells you. That is probably one of the hardest things for you to complete on your own. You're staring at your laptop, the first thing you type is the name you finally picked for your company. That may be the last thing you have on that business plan for a while. All I had to begin with was a $4 notebook from Burlington's that had a scripture written on it "I can do all things through Christ Jesus that strengthens me" how true that would prove to be. In this book I would write down ideas, keep track of purchases, jot down website builder commercials, what sales the big hitters had posted online , song lyrics to use as catchy Captions, some of anything and everything. I refer back to this notebook to this very day. Find a way to keep reminders in plain sight, whether on your phone, computer, or even your bathroom mirror.
"When Women Support Each Other, Amazing Things Happen" this is a proven fact. Starting a business, you will encounter all type of people dressed as supporters. Most will come to spectate, some will come just because and few will come to support. You must be okay with this! You may very well experience that the friends and family you expected to be the first in line cheering you on may be the last. Im not going to lie to you, this part hurt the most. Some people can't be happy for you simply because their not happy with themselves. The feedback was confusing, it was disheartening but more importantly it was a game changer. I channeled that energy into something positive and started my own networking group, Tea Time. Here we come as strangers and leave as sisters. We all have many commonalities but the biggest factor is the need to SUPPORT one another. Keep a positive circle around you for encouragement and a shoulder. Business gets hard, period.

"Things That Can Make Or Break Your Business" for me, I truly believe that only you can stop your own dreams from coming true. That doesn't mean that your business can't bend or break with the help of others. Your team is a representation of your business, picking people not in sync or loyal with your brand will destroy a few things. Your team is like all other relationships and friendships, sometimes you pick the wrong ones, some last a lifetime and some are simply to teach you a lesson. Be picky with your team, be knowledgeable to your team and be a asset to anyone who works with you.
"Social Media" is the holy grail to most companies, especially those in small business. You are able to do a plethora of different things to help yourself, from running ads and promotions, allowing the consumer insight on who their supporting/buying from, as well as being able to reach worldwide with many other perks. Careful how you use your social media, remember to separate your personal from your business and to never forget that once it's on the internet, its permanent.
All in all, entrepreneurship can be challenging at any age, but setting yourself up for early retirement or generational wealth in your 20's is genius. Mistakes are inevitable but persistence is key.
